Jack Kerouac’s novel “On the Road” — that bible of the beat generation — is a fictionalized account of Kerouac and his friend Neal Cassady’s journey across the country. Also on that journey was Cassady’s young wife Lu Anne Henderson, fictionalized as the sexy “Marylou.” Kerouac biographer Gerald Nicosia has now rescued Henderson from the margins of beat scholarship in his book “One and Only: The Untold Story of On the Road.” We’ll talk with Nicosia about Henderson and her indelible impact on the friendship between Kerouac and Cassady and their story of being on the road.
