We hear from people struggling with mental and physical issues who are involved with a new organization called Adversity 2 Advocacy. The group focuses on turning personal challenges into service. We talk with people living with disabilities and illnesses who say that speaking out — and advocating for education and change — is healing.

Guests:

Mary Nicholson, ambassador for stroke and brain injury at Adversity 2 Advocacy and founder of Healings in Motion, which facilitates local educational programs to prevent and support recovery from strokes, traumatic brain injury and neurological impairments

David Spiegel, professor in the School of Medicine, associate chair of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Stanford University School of Medicine

Jeff Bell, news anchor at KCBS Radio, founder of Adversity 2 Advocacy and author of "Rewind, Replay, Repeat"

Corey Reich, founder of Corey's Crusade (for ALS Research)

Ted Reich, father of Corey Reich

Susan Dailey, mother of a 10-year-old with sudden onset OCD, member of the board of directors of the International OCD Foundation and a founding ambassador at Adversity 2 Advocacy
