The exhibit “A Walk in the Wild: Continuing John Muir’s Journey” opened at the Oakland Museum of California this month. We discuss the exhibit, which attempts to recreate John Muir’s experiences and adventures in California’s wilderness.

We also explore the life, legend and legacy of the man known as “The Father of the National Parks.”

Guests:

Dorris Welch, guest curator for the "A Walk in the Wild" exhibition at the Oakland Museum of California

Donald Worster, professor of American history at the University of Kansas and author of "A Passion for Nature: The Life of John Muir"

Bonnie Gisel, environmental historian, educator, curator of the Sierra Club's LeConte Memorial Lodge in Yosemite National Park and author of "Nature's Beloved Son: Rediscovering John Muir's Botanical Legacy"
