Historian Douglas Brinkley, dubbed “America’s new past master” by The Chicago Tribune, has written books on a slew of presidents and covered topics ranging from Hurricane Katrina to the Vietnam War. In his newest book, “Rightful Heritage,” Brinkley turns his attention to Franklin D. Roosevelt’s little-known environmental legacy and the president’s fierce pursuit of both economic growth and environmental preservation during the Great Depression. We talk to Brinkley about his book and get his historical perspective on the current presidential race.
