President Obama chose Jonathan Franzen’s latest novel, “Freedom,” for summer vacation reading — and Franzen recently graced the cover of Time magazine, a rare feat for a contemporary fiction writer. Franzen joins us in the studio to discuss his new book, and to talk about life in the literary spotlight.

His other books include “The Twenty-Seventh City,” “Strong Motion” and “The Corrections.”
