Berkeley law professor and former Bush administration attorney John Yoo joins us to discuss his new book, “Crisis and Command: A History of Executive Power from George Washington to George W. Bush.” Yoo played a significant and controversial role in shaping the Bush administration’s policy in the war on terror, arguing that POW status under the Geneva Conventions doesn’t apply to “enemy combatants.” He further asserted executive authority to undertake “enhanced interrogation techniques” such as waterboarding, techniques now regarded as torture by the current Justice Department.
