Daniel Zimbler 300x300South African-born director Daniel Zimbler works in comedy and drama for the stage and screen. He is a graduate of Columbia University’s M.F.A. film program in directing. His short films have played and won at various top-tier international festivals and have twice featured on Short of the Week.

Zimbler co-created and directed the IFP-backed web series Understudies starring Richard Kind. He also directed the second season of TV comedy series Those Who Can’t for the South African national broadcaster (SABC) which aired in July 2015, and for which he was nominated for a SAFTA (South African Film and TV Award) in 2016. He currently writes for multi-award winning satirical news show, ZA News, directs TV commercials, and is directing a feature documentary on legendary South African anti-apartheid photographer David Goldblatt.
