Leslie SbroccoMy name is Leslie Sbrocco and I’m the host of Check, Please! Bay Area. Each week, I will be sharing my tasting notes about the wine the guests and I drank on set during the taping of the show. I will also share some wine tips with each episode.

Vilarnau Rose Cava, Catalunya, Spain $18
Made with the unique Spanish grape variety, trepat, this fruit-driven, dry-styled pink bubbly hails from the northeastern corner of Spain. With an affordable price tag, it’s a sipper that foils fiery fare with a refreshingly zesty quality.

2009 Groth Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville, Napa Valley $50
For over 30 years the Groth family has been crafting stellar wines and this Cab shows why — it’s smooth, rich and satisfyingly delicious. Ready to enjoy now with decanting, it will improve for years to come. Pair with filet mignon for a classic match up.

Check, Please! Bay Area reviews: Café Borrone, Wexler’s, Big 4 Restaurant 13 July,2015Check, Please! Bay Area

  • Love Cafe Borrone! The reviews highlighting the phenomenal
meal from appetizer to dessert is why we continually come back, can’t get
enough. Hats off to Josh for the amazing cuisine and to Marina for the
    fantastic service-oriented crew!!

I love this place. The fresh baked goods make my mouth water every time I walk up, but I traditionally order an interesting omelet. I’m always pleased with my savory dish. The service and smiles can’t be beat either. A local favorite of mine, I frequent it weekly for breakfast, and monthly for dinner. The fine art is an added treat and exhibits change every few months with gorgeous new paintings.
