Leslie SbroccoMy name is Leslie Sbrocco and I’m the host of Check, Please! Bay Area. Each week, I will be sharing my tasting notes about the wine the guests and I drank on set during the taping of the show. I will also share some wine tips with each episode.

2010 Argento Torrontes, Salta, Argentina $12
A real value, this aromatic wine is made with Torrontés, Argentina’s signature white grape. Crisp, citrusy flavors make it an ideal pick to pair with spicy grilled shrimp, curry dishes, and fresh cheese.

2009 Merryvale Pinot Noir, Carneros, California $35
Packed with red berry fruit flavors, this is quintessential California Pinot. A silky texture combines with a kick of fresh acidity to make this a mouthwateringly alluring red. A perfect partner for broiled salmon or mushroom-laden pork loin.

    Dear Leslie,
I live in Santa Rosa and was very distressed to hear both the Oakland resident and the San Francisco resident say going to Petaluma was “a trek,” and neither would go back because of the distance. Funny thing, I was going to write to you just a few weeks ago complaining that none of your restaurants are within driving distance of Santa Rosa.

I would like to make a suggestion. As you know, there are a great number of 3- and 4-Star restaurants, old mom and pop restaurants — a lot of superior eateries in both Sonoma and Mendocino counties. Perhaps one episode per month could be CheckPleaseNorth. Thanks.

I LOVE your show. I would like to make a comment on the Lovejoy restaurant review. Pasties(sp)are not from england. They were invented in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan by the Welsh immigrants working in the mines. Just an FYI
    Thank you!
