Leslie SbroccoMy name is Leslie Sbrocco and I’m the host of Check, Please! Bay Area. Each week, I will be sharing my tasting notes about the wine the guests and I drank on set during the taping of the show.

Wines of the Week: KQED Wine Club
Our guests enjoyed some of these delicious offerings from the KQED Wine Club.

2007 337 Cabernet Sauvignon, Lodi California
Named for a clone of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety with roots in Bordeaux, France, this structured yet still fruity Cab is a steal of a deal.

2008 Tudal Family Winery Chardonnay, Los Carneros, Napa, California
A historic Napa Valley producer that you might not know about but should, Tudal is crafting wines with the winning combination of power and finesse. This limited-production Chardonnay from the cool Carneros region is crisp and bright but still offers a mouthful of ripe fruit flavors.

Thank you for having episodes of ‘Check, Please! Bay Area’ available online. I first discovered ‘Check Please! Bay Area’ this past summer when I was temporarily living in the Santa Cruz. I was so disappointed when I had to go back home (Hawaii) because I wouldnt be about to watch the show, but then I discovered this site!

Thanks again and I hope you keep posting episodes online!

Well, I love your show…So the other night when I could not sleep I was happy to see that your show was on….We happen to be in SF this last Sunday and tried Pisces….well the food was ok…..The service was slow and the food was cool when it came out….My husband and mother tried the short rib dish I the pork belly and it was good but once again was cool….we went during happy hours and were the first ones in the restaurant so they were not overwelmed….I really miss Cafe Riggio! How long has it been closed…

I can’t find the review of the Berkeley restaurant, Da Lian which I clearly recall seeing on your program. Where is it? We want to go with friends this weekend. Thanks! Jayne

So pleased to be receiving E-Mails that contain recent airings of this program once again / Look forward to them each week / Absolutely one of my favorite programs

I love this show for discovering new places, but you have got to have your hand models manicured (with CLEAN nails, please!) before you film them scooping up food. It’s highly unappetizing to see nasty, dirty nails or chipping polish touching food!

Dining is a cultural experience just as if visiting another country. One has to remember, you are paying for the experience of the culture, your basic knowledge of familiar is gone. You can’t expect to have an American experience in Russia, Austria, or Germany for instance. There is more to the saying, “When in Rome”

  • Dear Leslie, your show features so many San Francisco restaurants. I live in the East Bay and seldom travel to SF because of the cost and inconvenience. Can you feature restaurants outside of SF, in equal number, or at least more than previously?
Enjoy your show but looking for more convenient options.

I love, love , love your show. It gets me so excited about exploring all the cuisine bay has to offer. It makes it a complete adventure. I just watched your episode with Carol White. She is awesome!

I have lived in the bay my whole life and you make me remember why I do. Keep up the good work Leslie.
