Hear ye, hear ye! The purple one is coming to town!

Prince, arguably one of the funkiest men on the planet, announced the first dates of his “Piano and a Microphone” tour Tuesday, and at the top of the itinerary is two back-to-back shows on Sunday, Feb. 28 at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland.

Tickets go on sale at noon Wednesday, Feb. 24 for both shows — 7pm and 10pm. Prices range from $99-$275 and in an effort to deter scalpers, all tickets are Will Call and must be collected by the original purchaser. In order to obtain your tickets, you must provide your credit card and and a photo ID at the ticket window.

The show will feature Prince (full name Prince Rogers Nelson) onstage by himself playing a set full of hits and rarities on a grand piano. At a Feb. 16 show in Melbourne, Australia, Prince played a set dedicated to former protégé Denise “Vanity” Matthews, who died at a Fremont hospital just a few days before. Between emotional performances of tracks like “Little Red Corvette” and “The Ladder,” he told stories about his former muse.
