Now through Nov. 22: ‘Ada and the Memory Machine.’ Lauren Gunderson’s new play makes numbers sexy, telling the story of Ada Lovelace — daughter of Lord Byron — who was considered to be the first computer programmer. Details here. 

Now through Jan. 3, 2016: OMCA Presents ‘Rituals and Remembrance.’ This 21st annual Días de los Muertos exhibition looks at memorials and rituals around death and memory across cultures — Mexican, Salvadoran, Filipino, Hawaiian, Japanese, Chinese and more. Details here.

Friday, Oct. 30: Thomas Adès and Gloria Cheng piano performances. San Francisco Performances presents two virtuoso pianists, performing three pieces by Ades himself, as the company officially returns to its home base, the Herbst Theater. Details here. 

Saturday, Oct. 31: The SF Symphony Presents ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show.’ The San Francisco Symphony digs into the Bay Area’s favorite holiday with a 40th anniversary screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show tomorrow night, featuring special guests Peaches Christ and Latrice Royale. Saturday, Oct. 31: The Official Houdini Séance. Magician Robet Strong’s show features an attempt by a magician and medium to contact Houdini, with scientists on hand — so you know it’s legit. Details here.
