The foremost San Francisco public transportation covering most cities in the Bay Area is BART. Their expansive network of trains connect the Peninsula, Oakland, Berkeley, Fremont, Walnut Creek and other East Bay cities. Plan your trip by reviewing routes and schedules on the Official BART website.
The Caltrain provides general train service across San Francisco, Peninsula and San Jose. From the Caltrain terminal located at 4th & King street, take N Judah line and get off at The Embarcadero and Folsom St. Head Southwest on Market and make a left on Beale St.
The Muni Metro is a light rail/streetcar hybrid system lines, consisting of 7 lines that serve San Francisco. It’s especially useful to connect between downtown and southern/western areas. It’s easy to transfer to BART and Caltrans – at 4th and King. Check current public transit schedules with the SFMTA.
